4 Die In Tamil Nadu After Allegedly Consuming Liquor Mixed With Unknown Chemicals

Four men died allegedly after consuming liquor mixed with chemicals in Dharampuri in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai: Four men have died allegedly after consuming liquor mixed with chemicals in Dharampuri district in Tamil Nadu, 300 km away from Chennai. Three of them had died yesterday and today the other one too was declared dead.

The men, all friends, work for the Jindal Steel factory, where they consumed whisky together, investigators said. They suspect the young men had added some chemicals or spirit to enhance the intoxication. One of the victims, police said, is a Chemistry graduate.

A senior officer has denied this to be a case of illicit liquor tragedy. "We are investigating. We hope the post-mortem would be able to identify what went wrong. We don't think it's a case of illicit liquor tragedy. We are expecting the lab test report this evening." he said.
