A local court sentenced a 22-year-old man to life for the alleged rape andmurder of a six-year old girl in Kothagiri, some three years ago.
The District Session Court Judge R Premkumar sentenced Manikandan to three life terms under various IPC sections,including rape and murder, besides imposing a total fine of rs 70,000. However, the sentences will run concurrently.
The prosecution case was that Manikandan (then 19-years) has taken the girl from his neighbour's house, allegedly rapedher and after strangulating her to death, put her body in a sack and threw it into a bush on September 29, 2009.
