Tiruchirappalli: Gold biscuits worth about Rs 37 lakh were recovered by customs officials from a toilet in the international airport in Tiruchirappalli today.
The 1.5 kg of gold, wrapped in a parcel, was found by sanitary workers during cleaning operations soon after some passengers who had arrived by an Air Asia flight from Malaysia used the toilets and left, customs officials said.
They suspect the passengers had left the gold there, fearing checks at the airport.
The CCTV footage was being monitored to identify the passenger who had left the parcel in the toilet, they said.
