Tiruvarur, Tamil Nadu: Police and fire service personnel were searching whether more persons were trapped in the debris. A team of doctors had been rushed to the spot to give treatment and first aid, police said.
At least Five persons were killed and 16 injured when a portion of an under construction guest house of the Central University collapsed in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, early today morning.
Superintendent of Police Jayachandran said, "the portico portion of the under construction structure crashed. We are investigating." The toll could increase as several of the injured were in a serious condition, the police said.
The injured, who are mostly migrant labourers, have been rushed to Thanjavur government hospital.
