Chennai: Five empty coaches of Coimbatore-bound Shatabdi Express today derailed in Chennai, Southern Railway officials said.
The incident happened early this morning when the train was being moved from the yard to the platform when five coaches derailed at Basin Bridge, but there were no casualties, they said.
The train, which was scheduled to leave at 7:15 am, later proceeded to Coimbatore at around 10.30 am after a delay of over three hours, they added.
The incident comes close on the heels of the derailment of Bengaluru-Chennai Mail last week.
Two coaches of the train had derailed at Basin Bridge while entering the Central Railway Station.
