A 51-year-old woman, who was undergoing treatment for swine flu (H1N1), died today at the government hospital here.
Padmini, who tested positive for the flu on Monday, died without responding to treatment in the early hours, hospital sources said.
The woman, from Veerapandipudur on outskirts of the city, was admitted to the hospital with complaints of fever and sore throat, a couple of days ago after returning from a pilgrimage to Tirupati.
She also had blood pressure problem and was suffering from pneumonia, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man from Udhagamandalam has also tested positive for swine flu.
