Coimbatore: A 65-year-old man was today handed down 10 years' imprisonment for making sexual advances towards a seven-year-old girl in 2014 by the Mahila Court in Coimbatore.
P Chinnasamy, a resident of Peelamedu in the city and working in an automobile shop in Tirupur, was at home on July 27, 2014, when he noticed the girl, daughter of a construction worker, playing near his house, according to the prosecution.
He made sexual advances towards her, who in turn informed her mother.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Chinnasamy.
The Mahila Court judge G Raja also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on him.
