The AIADMK paid homage to party founder MG Ramachandran on the former chief minister's 29th death anniversary.
Close aide of late Chief Minister and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa paid floral tributes to a portrait of Ramachandran at Poes Garden. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam led a delegation of ministers, AIADMK legislators and party leaders to pay respects to the actor-turned-politician on Marina Beach in Chennai.
A customary pledge was also taken at the memorial, which was read out by Mr Panneerselvam.
They took a vow to continue to perform their duties including establishing the rights of the state in the Cauvery water sharing dispute and issues steadfastly taken up by Jayalalithaa. The MLAs also took a pledge that they would continue to abide by the high command of the party.
