AIADMK Rubbishes DMK's 'Non-Functional' Barb

AIADMK Rubbishes DMK's 'Non-Functional' Barb
DMK's MK Stalin asked why Chief Minister Jayalalithaa hadn't spoken on demonetisation.
Chennai:

AIADMK today ridiculed DMK's claim that Tamil Nadu government is "non-functional", asserting that the state machinery is functioning without any slump in work.

"All kinds of government work is going on sans any lag negating leader of opposition MK Stalin's claim that government machinery has come to a standstill," AIADMK said adding such work has made people feel that the DMK leader's claim was a "blatant lie," and a "wanton propaganda."

Hitting out at DMK, AIADMK's mouthpiece said the pace of administrative work has been stepped up in the state and a string of development activities were on.

It listed several review meetings of state ministers and inspection of ongoing works "on the directive of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa," to buttress its point.

DMK treasurer MK Stalin has been criticising the AIADMK government often, claiming that the state government was "non-functional".

He used to mention it frequently while campaigning for the November 19 polls in three constituencies in Tamil Nadu and repeated the charge even on November 27 while participating in a function.

On Mr Stalin slamming the party for not speaking up on demonetisation, the party mouthpiece referred to the protests by AIADMK MPs inside and outside Parliament against the Centre and described the DMK leader's criticism as "ignorance and mischievous."

Mr Stalin had asked why Chief Minister Jayalalithaa or Finance Minister O Panneerselvam had not spoken on demonetisation when leaders across the country had done so.
