AIADMK Seeks Abolition Of NEET Exam
CBSE will conduct the NEET-II for medical and dental courses on July 24.
New Delhi: Ahead of the second phase of NEET exam, AIADMK members in Rajya Sabha today demanded abolition of such an entrance test for admission to medical and dental colleges in the country.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-II (NEET-II) for medical and dental courses on July 24 in compliance with the Supreme Court orders on the NEET and the Ordinance promulgated by the government.

In a special mention, AIADMK member Vijila Sathyananth said, "I demand for abolition of NEET for undergraduation medical courses in the country."

Other AIADMK members R Lakshmanan and T Rathinavel associated with the issue in the Upper House.

Another member from the same party, AK Selvaraj demanded for financial assistance to complete the drinking water projects taken up under the National Rural Drinking Water Programme in Tamil Nadu.

While S Muthukaruppan sought early implementation of UDAY scheme in the state, while A Vijaykumar demanded setting up of a divisional headquarters of southern railways in Tiruvelveli to cover up Kanyakumari district and take up other developments in southern zone.

Both these members are also from AIADMK.

Whereas Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry demanded the government to enact law to provide jobs to the reserved category in private sector, Mahendra Singh Mahra (Congress) sought financial help to Uttarkhand which is suffering from natural disaster.

Dilip Kumar Tirkey (BJD) demanded release of funds for setting up of medical colleges in Odisha.
