Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu:
As part of International Yoga Day, being celebrated on June 21 across the globe, Art of Living Foundation in Coimbatore is organising a free yoga session in the city.
The session will comprise simple asanas, pranayama and meditation for one hour from 6.30 am in which 5,000 people from different walks of life are expected to participate, Anand Purushottaman, Apex Body Member of the Foundation, Tamil Nadu unit, told reporters today.
Efforts have been made to ensure that the experience of yoga reached everyone who participate at the Race Course Walkers Path, which will be divided into bays, where 25 people will be slotted with a dedicated instructor guiding them, he said.
As a prelude to this event, volunteers are conducting one hour free yoga sessions -- Yog Daan -- in educational institutions and offices to create awareness leading up to the event, Anand said, adding that more than 70 companies and a few schools confirmed their participation.
Moreover, the foundation is also offering a course for the students of 9th standard to 12 standard to ease their stress during the examinations.
