Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu: An auto rickshaw driver accused of attempting to sexually assault a five-year-old girl in Tamil Nadu was caught and tied to a pole by the locals before he was finally arrested by the police.
The 44-year-old man had allegedly attempted to sexually assault the girl in a deserted area of Tiruvannamalai district. The girl who had known him as a friend of his father screamed for help after which the man was apprehended by the locals. The angry crowd gave him a beating and also damaged the his auto-rickshaw.
The police have filed a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses or POCSO act.
"The child is out of danger. We've sent her for medical examination," said the inspector in charge of the case.
