Chennai: Police have managed to confirm the identity and antecedent of the alleged kingpin of two recent bank robbery cases here, who along with other suspects were killed in an alleged encounter.
Bihar-born Sonukumar Yadav, 25, had earlier been arrested in Malad, Charkop and Borivali police stations in Mumbai, police said.
Yadav was killed along with four other persons in an alleged encounter on Thursday.
Besides Yadav, police also released the details of Aniket Parab (20), Mahendra Jerri D'Souza (23), Bramhanand Dubey (36) and Swapneel Bhatakar, pertaining to the robbery.
The branches of Bank of Baroda and Indian Overseas Bank in Chennai were robbed of Rs 19 lakh and Rs 14 lakh on January 23 and February 21 respectively.
