The couple had announced a reward for any information about Luke.

Chennai: It was an emotional reunion for Luke, a dog, and his owners, a German couple who are on a world tour. The couple flew down to Chennai from Nepal to take him back. In July, the Labrador mix went missing from Chennai's Marina Beach where the couple was camping.

Luke instantly recognizes his masters, as seen in a video, and jumps and wags his tail in joy. Janin Schrrenberg can't control her tears as her husband cuddles their baby.

On her Facebook page Janin said, "The happiest day of my life! Thanks to everyone who has been helping us. U are amazing. Thank u for every picture."

The couple had rescued the dog from the streets of Greece when he was a puppy. Soon they obtained a passport for him and took him along for their world tour.

He went missing when they were in Chennai. He was sleeping under their vehicle with the leash tied to the wheel. An eyewitness had reportedly told them a man took away their pet in an autorickshaw.

The couple had announced a reward for any information about Luke. Many dog lovers in Chennai were on the look-out for the dog. On Saturday, a youngster contacted Vijaya Narayanan, an animal rescuer, who had been tracing the dog. The embedded microchip confirmed the canine was Luke.

The young man was awarded Rs 30,000. Vijaya accompanied the couple as they were reunited with Luke. She added, "It was love in its purest form. The unfairness of their separation troubled me. I'm relieved. I can sleep peacefully now."

Luke suffers from minor skin issues. Soon after he was traced, Shravan, a dog lover and rescuer at whose place the reunion took place, arranged for his treatment.
