Designer Campaign Caravans Of Tamil Nadu Politicians

Tamil Nadu are driving to a designer company to refurbish their vehicles into swanky campaign caravans.

Chennai: Ahead of assembly elections, political leaders in Tamil Nadu are driving to a designer company to refurbish their vehicles into swanky campaign caravans.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's van has a hydraulic lift to reach out to voters from the roof top.

DMK Chief Karunanidhi's 26-seater vehicle has been reduced to an eight-seater. It has a sofa for him and a special motorised seat that would double up as his wheelchair.

Koyas and Sons, located in Coimbatore, specialises in making tailor-made seats. They replace the traditional leaf springs with balloon technology.

"Our seats are our specialty, everything is made in house: the foam, the frames. We do a quality job. All parties like us," said PV Mohamed Riyaz of Koyas and Sons.

There are CCTV cameras in the campaign vehicles so the leaders can see the crowds outside. Some of them have a stair case to so that the politicians can address from the 'balcony'.

PMK leader Anbumani  Ramadoss and VCK chief Tirumalvalavan too have sent their vehicles for an upgrade.

Thanks to a bitter political rivalry, the Dravidian arch rivals in Tamil Nadu seldom meet or shake hands. But it seems when it comes to travelling in style they don't mind their vehicles seeing each other.
