Udhagamandalam : An assistant executive engineer of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in Coonoor near Udhagamandalam was sentenced to one year imprisonment on Wednesday by a court for taking a bribe of Rs 1,000 in 2003.
Sub-court judge M Thangavelu found Rajendraprasad guilty of taking the bribe for giving power connection to a new building while he was working as an Assistant Engineer 13 years ago.
According to the prosecution, on a complaint from the building contractor, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption had laid a trap and arrested the official while accepting the bribe.
