Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu government has waived off farmers' loans amounting to Rs 124.45 crore after it returned to power in May, Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani said in Coimbatore today.
By the waiver of loans from cooperative banks, a total of 23,414 small and medium farmers were benefited, Velumani said in his address at the 63rd Cooperative Week celebrations here.
The Minister distributed welfare schemes and loans worth Rs 3.28 crore to 72 beneficiaries, including physically- disabled, self-help groups, and also marriage assistance.
