Madurai:
A group of farmers have proposed to form a company to take up agriculture as abusiness venture at Vasinagar near Usilampatti.
The Madurai Model Agri-business company would take shape in a month, according to R Jayaraman, Member Secretary, Centre for Entrepreunership development (Tamil Nadu).
Addressing a seminar on "Innovation and entrepreneurship," he said experts in the field of entrepreneurship are awatingthe result of the unit agri-business venture.If farmers joined to gather corporate farming was possible in large stretch ofland, he said, adding farmers could recruit employees and make agriculture a profitable business working costs etc.
He hoped the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development would support the venture and others too canfollow this model but what is required for doing this is sizeable agricultural land and market-oriented approach foragricultural business, he said.
The seminar was organised by Anna University of Technology.
The agriculture company would registered under the Companies Act and share certificates would be issued toparticipating farmers.
