Foreign currencies, worth Rs 92 lakh, were today seized from a Singapore-bound passenger at the Tiruchirappalli International airport in Tamil Nadu, officials have said.
The passenger, who was allegedly trying to smuggle cash to Singapore, was intercepted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials.
The foreign currencies were found kept concealed at the bottom of the 'stroller bags' and seized under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962, an official release said.
The recovered foreign currencies included Euro, Swiss Franc, Saudi Riyal and Dirham.
The statement from the department claims, authorities received a specific intelligence.
The passenger was let out on bail as it was "bailable offence", and the identity of the passenger has not been revealed.
