G Ramakrsihnan was re-elected secretary of Tamil Nadu unit of CPI(M).
Along with Ramakrishnan, 79 persons have been elected to the state council at the 20th state conference of the party,a CPI(M) release said, adding, 15 perrson have been elected to the state working committee.
The meeting in a resolution expressed concern over the law and order situation in the state.
It also expressed concern over the "increasing attacks" on the representatives of the local bodies.
It said to improve basic infrastructure in villages, local bodies should be strengthened with more powers. The stategovernment should allot 30 per cent of its revenue to the local bodies.
The party also announced organising a state-wide agitation and road blockade on March 27 in protest against the "wrong"economic policies of the Centre.
