Heroin worth Rs 50 lakh seized; four held

Tuticorin: Four persons, including a polytechnic student, were arrested and heroin worth Rs 50 lakh seized from them near a private college here, police said today.

The four had planned to sell the drug to college students and smuggle it to Sri Lanka. Police were interrogating them to ascertain from where they got the drug.

Four mobile phones and two motor cycles used by them were also seized, a release from Superintendent of Police, J Rajendran said.

While one person was arrested yesterday, the others were taken into custody today, it said.
