Illegal registration of candidates: Plea filed in Madras High Court

Chennai: A written plea has been filed in the Madras High Court alleging illegal registration of candidatesof other states in three district employment exchanges in Tamil Nadu and calling for deletion of such entries.

When the plea by two persons came up for admission, Justice K Chandru ordered issue of notice to state government.

The petitioners sought a direction to authorities concerned to delete the names of persons who were allowed to betransferred from various employment exchanges in Andhra Pradesh to employment exchanges in Tamil Nadu.

They also sought a consequent direction to authorities to appoint candidates, who had registered themselves with theemployment exchanges in the state as Telugu language teachers in government middle/high and higher secondary schools.

Alleging illegal migration of candidates from Andhra Pradesh to employment exchanges in the districts ofKrishnagiri, Tiruvallur and Chennai, the petitioners contended that despite representations to the authorities no properaction had been taken to curb the practice.

The petitioners, who had completed degree courses in Telugu medium and registered themselves in 2001 and 2002respectively, said they were still waiting to be called for appointment to post of graduate teachers in middle,high andhigher secondary schools by the Teachers Recruitment Board.

The petitioners said on January seven and eight last,the employment exchanges sponsored 286 names for 140 advertisedposts of minority language teachers.In all 150 were persons from Andhra Pradesh, who were also accorded seniority from thedate of registration with Andhra Pradesh employment exchanges.

Pointing out that other states, including Andhra Pradesh, had eligibility norms requiring a minimum of seven years onthe live register for transfer of employment registration, besides family migration certificate, family card and residentcertificate, counsel for petitioners said authorities in Tamil Nadu, however, did not insist on such requirements.
