Jayalalithaa wants power generated from Kudankulam only for Tamil Nadu
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, demanding the power generated by the Kudankulam plant be given only to her state.

The Kudankulam nuclear plant, which got a go-ahead from the AIADMK government just two weeks ago, is expected to generate 2000 MW of power. Of this 925 MW was meant to be for Tamil Nadu. But now the Chief Minister wants the whole 2000 MW for the state citing acute power shortage.

In her letter to the PM, Ms Jayalalitha says she had demanded 1000MW power from the Centre but had received just 100 MW.

Earlier, Ms Jayalalitha had said the plant was expected to go on stream in another two months and she hoped it would bring some immediate relief to the power-shortage hit state.
