DMK chief wanted the inquiry commission to fix responsibility for the alleged delayed opening of the dam and determine the compensation for the flood-hit people.
Chennai:
DMK chief Karunanidhi on Friday called on Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and submitted a memorandum, seeking a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge over 'delayed' release of excess water from Chembarambakkam dam.
"I urge you to constitute a Commission of Inquiry headed by a sitting High Court Judge to go into the delayed opening of the sluice gates of Chembarambakkam Reservoir," he said.
Last week, the Chembarambakkam reservoir was opened in Chennai in the wake of heavy rainfall. Opposition parties had alleged that this was the reason behind the severe inundation of Chennai and neighbouring areas.
The DMK chief also wanted the inquiry commission to fix responsibility for the alleged delayed opening of the dam and determine the compensation for the flood-hit people.
On Thursday, DMK had demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and they were supported by other opposition parties, including the People's Welfare Front.
