Chennai:
DMK president M Karunanidhi today faulted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for not personally attending the 11th Inter-State Council meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying it did not augur well for the state's welfare.
In a letter to partymen, Mr Karunanidhi also pointed out to Jayalalithaa deputing Finance Minister O Panneerselvam for the council meeting, convened after a gap of 10 years, held in New Delhi yesterday.
"Isn't there a difference between the Chief Minister highlighting the state's demands and necessities in person at a meeting convened by the Prime Minister, instead of a minister doing that," he said.
The DMK veteran pointed out that it was in one such council meet that he as a Chief Minister had raised the issue of nationalisation of banks.
Jayalalithaa not attending the the meet in person "does not augur well for Tamil Nadu's welfare", he said.
