Chennai : The grand old man of Indian politics, DMK chief M Karunanidhi, celebrates his 93rd birthday today.
The party's treasurer and youth wing leader MK Stalin has asked the DMK cadre to involve themselves in blood donation, planting tree saplings and other welfare activities across Tamil Nadu.
Today, Mr Karunanidhi is scheduled to pay his respects at the memorials of his mentors Anna Dubai and EVK Periyar.
He would also meet party cadre and address a public meeting in Chennai.
Though the DMK lost in the recent assembly polls, it has emerged as the strongest ever opposition in the state.
Mr Karunanidhi won with a record highest margin this time with more than 68,000 votes and got elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly for the 13th consecutive time.
The DMK uses occasions like these to boost the morale of its cadre.
