Knitwear exporters thank CM for revival package

Coimbatore: Tirupur Exporters' Association(TEA) today thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa forgiving a new lease of life to the special purpose vehicle, NewTirupur Area Development Corporation Ltd (NTADCL) and thirdwater scheme to Tirupur to provide quality water supply andsanitation facilities.

In a letter to Jayalalithaa, TEA President, A Shaktivelsaid the bailout package, Corporate Debt Restructuring Packageinvolving conversion of 15 per cent of debt to gtategovernment equity and sanctioning of Rs.150 crore revivalpackage have come at a crisis period for the project.

This would go a long way and beneficial to all walksof life, wayside villages and panchayats, apart from TirupurCorporation and processing units in Tirupur.

Stating that five Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP)have already been opened and most of their member unitsresumed their operations and new permissions have also beengiven for reopening of four more CETPs, Shaktivel said thatabout 40 Individual Effluent Treatment Plants (IETPs) werealso operating successfully.

The remaining CETPs and IETPs were taking efforts to resumeoperations and with these, the water consumption from NTADCLwould increase in the coming months, he said.
