Chennai: E Palaniswami today won the trust vote in the Tamil Nadu Assembly after the house witnessed chaos and violence. He won 122 votes with only 11 rebels of his AIADMK voting against him. He needed the backing of at least 117 legislators in the 234-member State Assembly. Mr Palaniswami took oath on Thursday with a 30-member cabinet. He is widely seen as a proxy for AIADMK chief VK Sasikala, who is currently serving a jail term of four years in Bengaluru prison after being convicted in a corruption case by the Supreme Court.
