Low Pressure Area Likely, Rain Expected In Tamil Nadu On Poll Day

Chennai: A low pressure area is likely to form over southwest Bay off Sri Lanka and the MeT Department has forecast rains in the next two days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry even as polling is scheduled in both the places on May 16.

"A low pressure area is very likely to form over southwest Bay off Sri lanka coast during next 24 hours," a MeT Bulletin said today.

"LPA is likely to become well marked low pressure area and subsequently concentrate into a depression during subsequent 48 hours over the same area," it added.

In its forecast, the department said showers were likely at many places on Sunday in south Tamil Nadu and isolated rains in northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

On May 16, the day of polling, rainfall could be expected at many places in South, and Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. In northern interior TN districts like Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri showers are expected at a few places.
