Missing Indian fishermen return home

Chennai: 35 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu, who had drifted into Sri Lankan waters due to rough weather last week before cyclone Thane hit the state's coast, have returned home safe. The Sri Lankan navy has handed them over to the Indian Coast guard.

There is however, growing concern about the plight of three other fishermen who are still missing. One fisherman is feared dead.

Commenting on the development, H H More, Commandant, ICGS Mandapam said, "The Indian Coast Guard station, the state government and Sri Lankan officials were in regular touch to ensure our fishermen return without any harm."

He also said that a team of 91 people will soon be leaving for rescue operations and to bring back boats from sea.
