On November 17, DMK President M Karunanidhi had announced Rs 1 crore towards relief work on behalf of his party.
Chennai:
Days after his party announced a contribution of Rs 1 crore for flood relief operations in Tamil Nadu, DMK President M Karunanidhi today accused the state government of evading a cheque for the amount.
"Officials are dodging (accepting) the cheque even after a request to the office of the Chief Secretary seeking an appointment to give the cheque," he said.
Such a response, "has given room to think if the higher ups had ordered them (officials) to not accept the cheque," he said in a statement.
"Still, on behalf of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, efforts were being continued to secure an appointment from the top officials (to hand over the cheque), he said.
"This is the reason for delay in giving the party's relief that was announced," he added.
