Vellore: As many as 4,086 children were born in the district in the government hospitals between April and December this year. This included 1,061 caesarean deliveries. This was informed at meeting of the public health services chaired by the district collector S Nagarajan on Thursday here.
Health officials said, while 45,996 persons had taken treatment in the government hospitals on more than one sitting, 1.05 lakh were treated as outpatients. Around 9,700 persons had received emergency treatment while 2,643 had been treated as inpatients, during the above said period.
The officials informed that 24-hour child and maternity care clinics were functioning at Vellore, Tirupattur, Gudiyattam, Vaniyambadi, Wallajah, Arakonam and Sholinghur. The collector also reviewed the performance of the taluk level government hospitals.
Joint director of public health Dr Chandranathan, deputy director of public health Dr Somasundaram, project director of Tamil Nadu health project Dr Kennedy, among other officials, were present on the occasion.
