Erode:
PMK today made a strong pitch for granting more powers to the Election Commission to curb bribing of voters.
"The Election Commission has appointed 122 general observers and 32 IPS personnel to check the violation of model code of conduct in Tamil Nadu. This is inadequate," PMK founder S Ramadoss told reporters in Erode.
He alleged that crores of rupees had been hoarded by the Dravidian parties to bribe voters and the Commission should have "more powers to tackle this menace".
Mr Ramadoss claimed that the election manifestos released by the DMK and AIADMK were based on the draft manifesto prepared and released by his party six months ago.
He challenged that he would prove this, if a common platform was arranged to conduct debate with representatives of all political parties.
Attacking DMK and AIADMK, Mr Ramadoss alleged that during their rule, "corruption had increased" and there was "absence of accountability" in implementation of schemes and development.
He also hit out at DMK and AIADMK for their 'freebie' schemes, claiming that the state was facing a financial crisis and such announcements will make everyone a debtor.
Later he canvassed votes for PMK candidate from Bhavani, Ramanathan.
