Earlier, Mr Rangasamy met Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha on the current fiscal situation of the Union Territory.
Mr Rangasamy also presented a detailed report on the requirements of Puducherry to Mr Modi.
Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and sought additional funds for implementation of various development projects besides raising the issue of statehood for the Union Territory.
The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to release funds to the tune of Rs 556 crore, which is additionally required for the annual plan for fiscal 2015-2016.
"The meeting lasted for about 10 minutes. The Prime Minister has assured of necessary action in this regard," Mr Rangasamy said.
