Puducherry Officials Release Election Anthem To Draw Out Voters

The visually rich Tamil song explains to various sections that votes are not for sale and one should vote responsibly.

Chennai: Election authorities in Puducherry have released a three minute anthem to encourage voters to come out and cast their vote and also vote ethically in the May 16 election.

Showcasing the union territory's legends, landmarks and cultural diversity, the visually rich Tamil song explains to various sections that votes are not for sale and one should vote responsibly.

The District Collector and District Election Officer P Jawahar said, "Puducherry had registered 88 per cent poll turnout during last elections. We are trying for 100 per cent. We would also appoint ambassadors who will reach out to communities and raise awareness so that there's a large voter turnout."

Neighbouring Tamil Nadu, which also votes on the same day, has already launched a social media campaign for drawing voters out.

Earlier this week and on April 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted to voters in West Bengal and Assam asking them to come out and vote in large numbers.
