Rajya Sabha Elect AIADMK Nominees Meet Chief Minister Jayalalithaa

Chennai: Four AIADMK nominees, who were declared elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha, today called on party leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
   
Former Tamil Nadu Housing Minister (20011-16) R Vaithilingam, former Union minister SR Balasubramoniyan who joined AIADMK after quitting GK Vasan-led Tamil Maanila Congress, A Navaneethakrishnan (a sitting Rajya Sabha member, his tenure will end on June 29 and he was renominated and re-elected as well) and A Vijayakumar (joint secretary of party advocates wing, Kanyakumari district) called on Ms Jayalalithaa, a government release said.
    
Mr Jayalalithaa congratulated them on being elected.
    
Biennial polls were held to fill vacancies of six lawmakers to Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu as the terms of AIADMK's Navaneethakrishnan, AW Rabi Bernard and PH Paul Manoj Pandian and DMK's KP Ramalingam and S Thangavelu and former Union minister and Congress leader EM Sudarsana Natchiappan end on June 29.
     
Of the six members, Mr Navaneethakrishnan was elected in 2014, Mr Rabi Bernard in 2011 and others in 2010.
     
Mr Navaneethakrishnan filled the vacancy caused by the disqualification of DMK's TM Selvaganapathi.
