Rationalist Leader Periyar EV Ramasamy Remembered on His Birth Anniversary

Chennai: Floral tributes were paid to rationalist leader Periyar EV Ramasamy on his 137th birth anniversary by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, DMK chief Karunanidhi and a host of other leaders of various political parties.

Ms Jayalalithaa, Mr Karunanidhi, his son and party treasurer MK Stalin paid floral tributes at a portrait of Periyar E V Ramasamy in Chennai.

PMK leaders S Ramadoss, Anbumani Ramadoss, MDMK chief Vaiko also paid respects to the rationalist leader.

Periyar (1879-1973), was a rationalist leader and fountain of Dravidian ideology who led Dravidian Movement in Tamil Nadu championing the cause of subaltern classes.
