Cuddalore:
A three member robbery gang shot at and injured a man who attempted to prevent them from fleeing after looting a petrol pump of Rs 52,000 at a village in the district in the early hours today.
Gopalakrishanan, who injured in the knee, was admitted to JIMPER hospital in Puducherry, police said.
Police said the gang was hiding in a mango grove after forcing the petrol pump staff at pistol point to part with Rs 52,000 cash at Kollukkaran Kuttai village near Neyveli.
When Gopalakrishnan raised an alert on seeing the trio, one of them fired one round at him from their pistol.
On hearing cries of Gopalakrishnan, the villagers rushed to the spot and nabbed one of the gangsters.
