Rowdy held for threatening doctors, staff

Kumbakonam: A rowdy who threatened doctors and staff at the government hospital here for reportedly not attending to his sick daughter was arrested here today.

Police said he had taken his daughter to the hospital yesterday, where she vomited. The doctors reportedly told him to clean it up and come back later.

The man came back at around midnight in an inebriated state with a sickle and threatened doctors for refusing to attend to his daughter, they said. He also damaged a showcase and attacked a scavenger.

Police were informed and they rushed to the spot and nabbed him. Meanwhile hospital staff staged a one hour protest today, demanding adequate protection for them.
