Chennai : Expelled AIADMK lawmaker Sasikala Pushpa, her husband and son have been booked by the Tuticorin police for harassing two sisters who worked as their domestic helps.
A case was registered against the lawmaker, her husband Lingeswara Thilagan and their son L Pradeep Raja, based on the complaint of the two women who worked in the house of Ms Pushpa, when she was the Tuticorin Mayor from 2011 to 2014, police said.
"Her son also ill-treated us. With so much difficulty we escaped from them," said one of the domestic helps.
Her sister added: "They made us do many wrong things. Every time they would tell us we would be back home the next day."
On August 1, the AIADMK expelled Ms Pushpa after she allegedly slapped DMK lawmaker Tiruchi Siva at the Delhi airport and refused to resign towing the party line.
The lawmaker now says her domestic helps were forced to turn against her by the AIADMK, an allegation the party denies.
