Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said she had ordered granting a sum of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the jawans.

Tamil Nadu government today announced Rs 10 lakh each to the families of four army jawans from the state died in the avalanche in Siachen.
Announcing the relief, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a statement in Chennai expressed grief over the death of Havildar M Elumalai of Vellore, Havildar S Kumar of Theni, Sepoy G Ganesan from Madurai and Sepoy N Ramamurthy from Krishnagiri district and conveyed her sympathies their families.
"I was grieved to know that four soldiers from Tamil Nadu who were involved in guarding the nation were killed in the avalanche," she said in a statement in Chennai.
Ms Jayalalithaa said she had ordered granting a sum of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the jawans.
A total of 10 army personnel were trapped in the avalanche when it hit a high altitude post in Siachen Glacier in Ladakh on February 3 last.
One of them, Lance Naik Hanumanthappa, found alive under the snow after six days, was undergoing treatment in New Delhi while others have lost their lives.
