Coimbatore:
Three persons were killed and two others injured when a speeding car mowed them down in Tirupur district today, police said.
The victims were standing on the road side consuming liquor purchased from a nearby TASMAC outlet, when the car hit them at Mettukkatuvaluku, about 20 km from Kangeyam, police said.
The driver reportedly lost control of the car while negotiating a curve, resulting in the mishap, they said.
The injured have been admitted to a government hospital.
