Sub Inspector's daughter, husband robbed

Madurai: The newly wed daughter of a Sub Inspector and her husband were attacked and relieved of 60 sovereigns of jewellery by a motorcycle gang while they were travelling on a two wheeler at nearby Tirumanglam, police said today.

The gang intercepted them, pushed them off the bike and escaped with the jewellery worn by the woman last night, they said.

The newlyweds were on their way to their parents' homes when the incident occurred.
