Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has launched a series of initiatives under the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department totaling over Rs 1200 crore.
Jayalalithaa recently inaugurated Rs 735.79 crore worth projects undertaken by the department including parks, official buildings, anganwadi centres, link-bridges and underground drainage system among others across the state, an official release said today.
She also laid the foundation stone for various other projects slated to be taken up at a combined cost of Rs 119.22 crore in different parts of the state, it said.
Solar powered concrete houses would also be constructed for 20,000 families presently residing in huts and mud-houses in certain local bodies.
