Chennai: Days after AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa rejigged the party's core team ahead of Assembly elections next year, the new office bearers today called on her and took her blessings.
"The newly appointed office-bearers today called on party general secretary Jayalalithaa and took her blessings," a party release said.
On November 22, Jayalalithaa had announced a 41-member list of top functionaries for the party, which saw both additions and deletions.
Jayalalithaa as general secretary continued to be on the top of the organisational pyramid, presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan and organising secretary C Ponnaiyan retained their positions. O Panneerselvam was named as party treasurer again.
Senior level functionaries, they are called "Thalamai Kazhaga Nirvagigal" or top party functionaries which is in essence the core team. The team funtionaries would steer the party in various capacities in different spheres, with some holding multiple responsibilities.
For example, Mr Panneerselvam is the party treasurer and disciplinary committee member. Natham R Viswanathan is party Dindigul District Secretary and disciplinary committeee member too. P Palaniappan is the party headquarters secretary and disciplinary committee member.
