Chennai: Tamil Nadu government today allocated an additional fund of Rs 94 crore towards distribution of freesarees and dhoties for the Pongal festival, making the totalbudget as Rs 350 crore for this year.
Approving weavers' demand to increase their wage by 10 percent, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced hiking it from Rs16 to Rs 18.40 per dhoti and Rs 28.16 to Rs 31.68 for a saree,an official release said.
Chief Minister ordered to complete distribution of thesegarments to beneficiaries before Tamil new year (April 13), itadded.
