Salem:
DMDK president Vijayakanth today slammed the Tamil Nadu government for allegedly not taking adequate steps to tackle water scarcity which he said was hindering irrigation.
Addressing a public meeting at Mecheri near Salem, he claimed there was acute drinking water scarcity.
Besides, there was not enough water for farmers to take up irrigation, he added.
Lashing out at the ruling AIADMK and keeping in view the assembly polls next year, he claimed only the DMDK would provide perfect administration to the people.
At the function, he along with his wife distributed sewing machines, tricycles and household articles worth Rs 25 lakh to some transgenders.
