A 21-year old youth, who enacted a drama stating that he was robbed of Rs 1.17 lakh by twomotor-cycle borne persons landed in the police custody.
The youth, Naveen, working in a cement selling agency, in a bid to swindle the money, had kept the bag in a bakery andpreferred a complaint that the marauders had sprinkled chilli powder and snatched the money in Peelamedu in the city.
The truth came out when the bakery owner, who grew suspicious on the complaint and not finding the youth tillnight, opened the bag and found the bundles of notes and immediately informed the police.
As the youth arrived at the bakery, he was nabbed and on interrogation, Naveen said to have confessed to hisplans and was arrested and lodged in the jail, they said.
