Heat-related deaths in Telangana mounted to 249 after reports of fresh casualties, the state disaster management department said today.
"Till today, we have reports that 249 persons have died due to heat-related ailments. All these deaths were confirmed by the three-member committees in the districts," an official in the disaster management control room said.
Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department in its weather bulletin said there is remarkable fall in maximum temperatures at a few places over Telangana.
"They were markedly below normal temperature at one or two places over Telangana. The highest maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius was recorded at Hanmakonda and Badrachalam," it said.

Heavy rains coupled with strong wind lashed capital city Hyderabad and many other places in the state during the early hours.
Water entered few houses located in low level areas. Strong winds caused some of the tree branches to fall.
