Hyderabad:
In a twist to the rape and murder case of the 15-year-old tribal girl in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district, the police claimed that the complainant father, was himself the culprit.
"The girl, a class 9 student, was found dead with injuries on Friday morning. Kamal, her father, had lodged a complaint with the police saying that some unidentified persons attacked him and abducted his daughter on Thursday night."
"However, probe revealed that Kamal himself had raped and murdered the girl in a drunk condition," said Ranga Reddy district Superintendent of Police M Srinivas.
According to Kamal's complaint with Bantawaram police, he was travelling with his daughter on a motorbike on the night of May 21.
When they stopped near Barwad village to drink water, some unidentified persons abducted his daughter in an auto-rickshaw while two others beat him unconscious.
The girl's body was found next morning with head injuries and strangulation wounds. Preliminary autopsy report revealed that she had been sexually assaulted.
Police had then registered a case of murder and gang-rape.
